Our Story

Obi Guitar Factory was born in Hiroshima from a simple idea: beautiful vintage Japanese textiles deserve a second life on stage.

For centuries, obi have carried the visual language of Japanese dress: seasonal motifs, formal textures, and woven symbols chosen with care. Most vintage obi we source arrive without a complete personal history, so we preserve that mystery instead of inventing one.

We hunt these vintage obi from kimono shops and estate sales across Japan. In our Hiroshima studio, each obi is carefully cut, reinforced, and finished on durable nylon backing before it becomes a playable one-of-a-kind strap. The result: a piece of textile history built for new music.
