Archive Piece

This one-of-a-kind kimono obi guitar strap has already found its new home in United Kingdom.

Each Obi Guitar Factory strap is made from a unique piece of Japanese kimono obi fabric, so the exact same design will not be made again.

Hana—flower. In obi weaving, floral medallions mark the seasons and celebrate what grows. Kimono wearers have understood this language for generations. Now it speaks through your strap.

This obi was handwoven in Hiroshima using traditional techniques passed down through textile families. Every thread was chosen. Every pattern aligned by hand. The fabric carries weight and intention—the kind you feel when you lift your guitar.

When you wear this, you're not borrowing a design. You're inheriting one. The hana doesn't care if you play jazz, folk, or noise. It just knows beauty when it sees it.

Ships worldwide. One made. Never repeated.

Past Life

The hana motif on this obi has long carried meaning in Japanese textiles — flowers as season, ceremony, and quiet celebration. We found this piece at a Japanese vintage market. Where it came from before that, who wore it, what occasion it marked — those stories are lost. What's left is the silk, the weave, and the chapter you'll write next.

Specs + provenance

The details that turn a strap from visual object into real gear.

Motif meaning
Hana (flower) patterns in obi weaving represent natural beauty and seasonal awareness—common in formal and semi-formal kimono dress. On a guitar strap, this motif gives you a traditional textile aesthetic that reads as cultured without being precious.
Care instructions
Treat it like a performance accessory made from decorative textile. Avoid heavy friction, prolonged moisture, direct sun, and harsh cleaners. After use, wipe gently with a dry cloth and store in a cool, dry place.

Behind the build

The textile gets the attention. The feel is what earns repeat use.

Obi Guitar Factory is not trying to make decorative straps that look interesting for one photo and disappear after that. The strap still needs to sit flat, feel stable, and hold up through real playing.

That balance between visual force and practical comfort is the whole point of the build, and it starts in Hiroshima with one bench and one pair of hands.
