Kusabana—grass flowers—scatter across this obi like they grew there by accident. In kimono tradition, this pattern speaks to the seasons, to things that bloom without asking permission. On your guitar, it's the same: natural, unforced, alive.

This fabric came from a weaver's loom in Japan, where the pattern was dyed and hand-finished with the kind of care reserved for garments worn to ceremonies. Now it's here, cut and sewn in Hiroshima into a strap that sits against your body while you play. That's the point—craft meeting function, history meeting now.

Because it's handmade from genuine obi fabric, no two kusabana straps are identical. The flowers fall differently on every one. Yours won't look like anyone else's, and it won't look the same way next year when the light catches it differently.

Ships worldwide. One made. Never repeated.

Past Life

Each kusabana obi we find tells the same broad story in a different voice — woven flowers, lost biographies, silk that outlived its first wearer. This one came from a vintage market in Japan. Where it lived before that, we don't know. What we do know: it's one of one. Once it ships, this exact pattern is gone forever.

Specs + provenance

The details that turn a strap from visual object into real gear.

Motif meaning
Kusabana depicts wild flowering grasses and small blooms scattered naturally across the fabric, a common seasonal motif in kimono obi that brings organic movement to your strap. This pattern gives you visual interest without heavy visual weight, so it won't distract from your playing.
Care instructions
Treat it like a performance accessory made from decorative textile. Avoid heavy friction, prolonged moisture, direct sun, and harsh cleaners. After use, wipe gently with a dry cloth and store in a cool, dry place.

Behind the build

The textile gets the attention. The feel is what earns repeat use.

Obi Guitar Factory is not trying to make decorative straps that look interesting for one photo and disappear after that. The strap still needs to sit flat, feel stable, and hold up through real playing.

That balance between visual force and practical comfort is the whole point of the build, and it starts in Hiroshima with one bench and one pair of hands.
